I Love a Scrap!
June 03 | 09by:Mike Brewer I’ve met so many people recently that want to take advantage of the government’s scrappage scheme; it’s not a bad deal, £2000 for your old banger on a spanking new motor sounds brill in any language. However, don’t expect the niceties that you used to get from a dealer, like extra mats, full tank of squirt, and a bunch of daffs for the old lady!
Dealers are being squeezed by the manufacturers one end by lowering profit margins and at the other end there’s us, chipping every penny we can get off the screen price, then there’s the government! They are only putting a grand out of the two so the dealers have to fork the rest, so bang goes the good stuff!
Some of the dealers I’ve been talking too are sick to death of being kicked, but these are tough times and it’s better to sell at a loss and get a manufacture bonus than go out of business. Lots have gone bust and some just want it to be over. However, there is good news for the sellers of small frugal cars like the Ford Fiesta and Toyota Aygo.
Plus there’s good news for used car dealers that have stocked the right kind of car over the past few months. Either small and cheap or expensive 4X4’s and luxury limos that are also cheap. As for you? Don’t feel guilty, dealers have had good profits for years, dust of the old banger, and grab yourself a bargain.

What about all the people scrapping classic cars that could end up extinct and what about the people that cant afford to buy a new car it will send the price of 2nd hand cars through the roof as they're becomes fewer and fewer of them.
