Kitting out the Garage for Car Restoration
April 22 | 09by:Julian Gudgeon I am kitting out my garage now as the compressor’s had it and the 19 year old, two poster ramp has also had it...
I’m going back to Blackhawk, the company who gave us a measuring system on Chop Shop so that I could do the Johnny Vegas car. I’ve been told that they can do me a really good deal which is good because I’ve been looking at buying some salvage work for myself. This may be a good chance to make another programme…
I thought it would be good to make a program repairing really smashed up cars on a jig as I have never seen a program like it before. You can see stage by stage what goes into repairing a smashed up car and the profits that can be made. It is important to point out that you should stay away from category C & D insurance write-offs if you’re buying, such as cars that have been smashed and repaired and bought from auctions which are also known as ‘V Car’. I will explain this more in my next blog.
Anyway, with a brand new jig and measuring system, there’s not a lot I can’t do. I’m just waiting now for a mad conversion that I can do, either for a customer or myself. And, as I’m told by Raw TV, they would like to film it for a few weeks. I think people will be amazed to see the amount of work that goes into repairing a salvage car. I would like to do something special such as a Ferrari or a BMW M3, M5 or M6.
A very close mate of mine has just bought himself a BMW M6. He took me out in it and now I want one. The car looks like the Bat-Mobile and I think it's maybe the fastest car I’ve ever been in. It is an ideal salvage car and I would like to buy one but the prices of parts are very expensive. Mind you, if you bought a smashed up M6, you could repair the car cheaper with used parts. Unlike an insurance repairer, who can’t...

Love the idea for a new show. Keep us posted!

Ei just wanted to ask if you are using or have used any Smith & ARROW brand of cutting disc? I'm about to buy my husband some so he can continue with his project. Is Smith & ARROW any good? i saw it on ebay (http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/smith-and-arrow__W0QQ_armrsZ1) and its cheap. But do you think its worth buying?
