Driving In The Car With Boys - Who Knows Best?
April 20 | 09by:Danielle McCormick Boys are so funny sometimes. For some reason, when it comes to cars they just have to know more about them then girls. You could get angry at them, but God bless 'em, it can be very entertaining!
I jumped into a car the day I was 17 and Mr Sherwood (my former Geography teacher) will vouch for me that I was pretty good at Geography and have a pretty good sense of direction. I am also generous with lifts but find it amusing when you offer to give a guy a lift somewhere and they treat you like you are, well, a bit special.
I, personally, would assume that if I was getting a lift from someone to a well known city centre location/pub/restaurant and this person had been driving for a while, that I wouldn’t have to give them directions every step of the way. But when you give a bloke a lift, it’s a different story.
Him: ”It’s just the next right here”
Me: “It’s OK…I actually know how to get there”
Him: (ignoring me) “Left at the next roundabout”:
How annoying is that?!
Then, in the event you have to park it just gets worse. They jump out of the car and start guiding you in – just in case you don’t know how to park! It would actually be insulting if I didn’t find it funny that they think woman are so crap.
My boyfriend is actually pretty handy with cars but the other day he was washing the mats of his car and was just flooding them with water. I pointed out to him that you shouldn’t use too much moisture when you are cleaning the interiors as it doesn’t have a chance to dry properly. I have written a book on it, so I do think it gives me some authority on the subject but do you think he would listen? He totally ignored me and now the car STINKS of cat’s..eh…urine. It is actually quite unbearable.
Now every time we get into the car and we have to open up all the windows I sit there with a big grin on my face with my “I told you so” t-shirt on.
Men, really, what do they know?
