Cleaning Car Interiors - How to Give the Insides a Good Old Scrub
April 24 | 09by:Danielle McCormick There is just something really nice about sitting inside a car which is immaculate!
Before you begin, just make sure you have all the necessary things to get the job done...
What You'll Need:
- Upholstery Cleaner
- Carpet cleaner
- Vinyl Cleaner
- Lots of cotton cloths
- Small paint brush
- Vacuum cleaner
- An extension lead
The first obvious thing to do is to remove all the junk and clutter that has been gathering in your car. Once that is done, remove the mats and attack the whole car with the vacuum cleaner, hoovering practically every surface.
If you feel the upholstery needs attention, wet a cloth and add some upholstery cleaner to it and then wipe your upholstery. If any of you read my last article about the dangers of putting too much moisture inside of cars, be really careful not to soak your upholstery with too much water or else your car will smell like a tom cat was let loose in it.
The carpets
Then go inside the car and vacuum as many surfaces as you can. If you want to clean the carpets, then follow the instructions on your carpet cleaning product and again, be really really careful not to allow them to get too wet. Dont forget to clean the mats too. Once they have all been done, go over them with a dry cloth to try and absorb as much of the moisture as possible.
Vinyl
The vinyl of the car is constantly exposed to damaging UV rays all day long which make it age and lose its colour. That is why it is so important to treat your vinyl with a proper vinyl cleaner every few months. Firstly, wipe all the vinyl surfaces with a cloth to get rid of any dirt. Use a small paintbrush to clear away the dust from the vents. Once this is done, then go over the vinyl surfaces with your vinyl cleaner.
Once you have finished cleaning the interiors of the car it is a good idea to leave the car doors open for as long as you can to let all the moisture evaporate.
If you have leather seats, tune in next time to find out how to keep them in tip-top shape.
