Escort 500Se Cabriolet Picked Up!
March 30 | 09by:Lee Taylor
Well I have good news and bad news.
The good news is I have my Cabriolet back. I got the nod from Baz to pick it up, so armed with my trusty left hand drive escort van and towing a frame (the one we used to tow Jools Holland's Jet 1 car chassis between work shops in Chop Shop) I set off down to Baz.
After arriving I emptied the boot of remaining parts that Baz has to paint - body kit, handles, and mirrors etc, blew off any dust then pushed it outside.
Once outside you can see exactly how good a job he has done, amazing!
After hooking the car up I made a few final checks and with a goodbye I was off. I was on my way to my Brother Jason’s house where the car is being stored in his garage until
I get it waterproofed by fitting the roof and bonnet.
Now time for the bad bit…
All was well until I was one mile from Jason’s when disaster struck. I hit a patch of oil on a roundabout which spun my van almost 180, putting my freshly panted cabriolet wing into my van's quarter panel, and snapping one of the chains on my A frames in the process!
So, after unhooking my van, turning it round and doing a temporary repair on my A fame I made it to Jason’s. I’ve assessed the damage and the van has come of worse.
The Cabriolet isn’t to bad really - just the front edge of the front wing that's damaged.
I’ve rang Baz to tell him and as usual its not a problem. After it's fitted up he'll bring it back and repair it.
So all I’m waiting for now is Baz to paint the remaining bits and for me to fit the car up. I'll let you know how I'm getting on in the next blog.
