Keeping Cool with Coolant

February 10 | 09by:Danielle McCormick

How to add coolant

The other most fundamental part of car maintenance is making sure you have enough coolant. When you are driving, there are roughly ten thousand explosions taking place in your engine every minute. That is pretty hot! Coolant keeps things nice and cool and if you run low on coolant, expect steam coming from your engine and a very expensive trip to your mechanic.

However, checking your coolant is very easy.

How to check your coolant

Check your owner’s manual to see where your coolant is located.

Coolant Car makers make it very easy for you and usually put it in a translucent box so you can see where the levels are at. There is usually a Min and Max (or Low and High) mark. If your coolant levels are below Min or Low then you need to top up. Simple!

These can usually be purchased from your local garage or motorfactors.

Addcoolant Make sure that when you are filling up you don’t go above the “Max” or “High” mark. Too little or too much of anything is never good.
