Guillotine Doors on a Volkswagen Golf

Ok, here's a fun one. As you might know, I've just opened my own mod shop and garage - ‘All Star Car Customs’ - and I straight away got a properly fun job - guillotine
doors on a MK5 Golf.
This customer
had the work done elsewhere. But then he realised a small problem: they had completely ruined
his car. He'd been ripped off. This is where I stepped in and offered to put the car right. I couldn't believe what the previous 'garage' had done.
To start with,
look at this picture of the gap they left. That's not a picture of the work half-way through. That's what it looked like when they told him it was done. Now, you don't need to be Michaelangleo to see that... well, you get it.
So, imagine how the doors were opening and closing due to this shoddy work. They were hitting the back of the rear doors, leaking when it rained and at high speeds, making wind noise. I’m not a lover of putting other peoples work right but I felt sorry for this customer as his car wasn’t up to scratch.
The work done to
his car was so bad that I knew I had to put it right for him. When he picked
his car up and saw it all done, he couldn’t believe his eyes and his very words
were ‘I can’t believe you done it’. That’s what it’s all about.
A point that I
must stress is that if you want work like this done, make sure you take it to
someone who knows what they are doing.
